Work Starts On 35 New Homes In Mattishall
Work has started to build 35 new energy-efficient family homes in Mattishall. At a ceremony today (18th July), Paul LeGrice, managing director of locally-based house builder Abel Homes, dug the first sod on the site, in the centre of the village.
Abel Homes will be building 21 private and 14 affordable homes on the 4.4 acre site. The new development will comprise a mixture of one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses and bungalows, all of which will have the top ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency.
The new homes will include features such as photo-voltaic solar panels, underfloor heating, triple glazing and high levels of insulation, and will also feature fibre broadband direct to each home.
As part of the development, Abel Homes will create a public open space on the site, and has also made a commitment to provide a piece of public artwork on every site where it builds homes.
Digging the first sod, Abel Homes managing director Paul LeGrice said, “While there will always be some people who do not want to see any new homes built at all, we have worked hard to ensure that this development is on an appropriate scale for Mattishall.
“Forty per cent of the new homes we are building will be affordable homes, something which is vital if the village is to remain vibrant, and if local people are going to be able to live and work in the village.”
The showhome will open early in 2018.
