Work Starts On 25 New Energy-Efficient Homes In Taverham
Work has started on the building of 25 new energy-efficient family homes in Taverham – the second phase of a site which has already seen 93 new homes delivered, as well as three public open spaces, and a wooded area with woodland walk.
Paul LeGrice, managing director of Norfolk-based house builder Abel Homes, joined site manager Nathan Clarke to cut the first sod on the site, which is at the junction of Beech Avenue and Ringland Road.
The new homes have been widely welcomed in Taverham, with the planning application attracting no objections, and being passed unanimously by Broadland Council’s planning committee.
All of the new homes are being built to a very high specification of sustainability, boasting an EPC rating of ‘A’ – the highest band, and placing the homes in the top 3% nationally in terms of new homes energy-efficiency. Each home will be fitted with solar photovoltaic panels, triple glazing and underfloor heating to the ground floor.
The new homes will also come with fitted ‘A’ rate appliances, air source heat pumps, electric car charging points, garages with electric doors, BT fibre broadband to the premises, and floor coverings included throughout.
The 25 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes will form the second phase of Abel Homes’ Taursham Park development, after the name given to Taverham in the Domesday Book. Eight of the new homes will be provided as affordable homes.
“Taverham is a very sought-after place to live, with a vibrant sense of community, easy access to the city centre, and yet lovely countryside adjacent to the village,” said Mr LeGrice.
“We are delighted to be returning to build the second phase of Taursham Park, having been delayed by the Nutrient Neutrality legislation. We already have a significant amount of interest in the second phase and look forward to reopening our show home early in 2025..”
The first new homes on the site will be released in January 2025. People can register their interest in the new homes at www.abelhomes.co.uk.
