Norfolk Construction Manager Wins National Award for his First Ever Site as Manager

Danny Pinner, who works for Watton based Abel Homes, has won a 'Pride in the Job' Award from the National Housebuilders Confederation (NHBC), one of only two site managers in Norfolk to win the award.

The accolade is all the more remarkable because Danny was only promoted to site manager in November 2011, taking over his first site, hus46 at Watton at that stage. He is responsible for the construction of 46 highly-sustainable homes currently being built off the town's Norwich Road.

Now he will go forward to the NHBC's 'Seal of Excellence' Award, the next stage in the annual search for the best site manager in the UK in each of the four categories.

The 'Pride in the Job' award is given following a 'Michelin Guide' style inspection by a NHBC inspector, who assesses site managers against 38 strict criteria.

Abel Homes managing director Tony Abel said, "This is the industry's most prestigious award for site managers, and it is a huge achievement for Danny to have won one with the very first site he has had responsibility for. We are very proud of him.

"Very few Pride in the Job awards go to smaller house builders, and it's a reflection of the effort we put in to keeping quality standards high on our sites."

The award judges look for consistent high standards in workmanship, excellent leadership skills, technical expertise, the ability to turn the designer's intentions into reality, good health & safety standards and a commitment to raising standards.

Danny Pinner joined Abel Homes in 2001 as an apprentice carpenter, working his way up to finishing foreman and deputy site manager, before being appointed site manager at the Watton site in November 2011. He is 28 and lives in Castle Acre in west Norfolk.

Danny will receive his award at a ceremony in Leicester in September.
