Local Firm Set to Sponsor Sixth Swaffham Visual Arts Festival
The Rotary Club of Swaffham launched the month-long Festival in 2010, after having organised an annual art exhibition for the previous 16 years – and now the sixth annual Festival, which takes place in October/November, will once again have the Watton-based house builder as its headline sponsor.
Organisers will unveil the programme for the Festival later this month, with events set to include a fashion-themed launch event, photography, sculpture and textile art workshops and exhibitions, and a film night, with the month culminating in a three-day exhibition of works by local artists.
Festival sponsor Abel Homes is providing financial support, as well as marketing expertise and help in kind to help make the Festival a success.
In 2007 the company made a commitment to commission a piece of public artwork for each of the sites on which it builds new homes, and it is currently in the process of undertaking its seventh such commission.
“We are a family firm, and my family has been part of the community in Swaffham for many, many years,” said Abel Homes managing director Tony Abel.
“We were delighted to help Rotary launch the first Swaffham Visual Arts Festival five years ago, and we are equally pleased to be returning as Festival sponsor this year. We hope we will be able to support the Rotary team in continuing to put the town on the artistic map.”
Rotary Club and Festival spokesman Denis Bishop said, “We are delighted to welcome Abel Homes back as sponsor. Not only does their support mean we can continue to develop the Festival as something for people in Swaffham to enjoy, but equally importantly, we will once again be able to raise thousands of pounds for charity in the process.
The sixth Swaffham Visual Arts Festival runs from 9th October to 8th November. The full programme will be announced later this month.
