First Residents Move Into Community Of New Homes In Bawdeswell
A couple who have spent three years living with their parents while they saved for a deposit have received the keys to their brand new dream home in Bawdeswell – the first to move into a development of 40 new homes in the village.
Abel Homes chairman Tony Abel welcomed Mike Bunn and Emma Wright with bubbly, flowers and their keys at the firm’s Bluebell Rise site, off Hall Road behind the Bawdeswell Garden Centre.
The couple, who have been together for three years, moved quickly when the site was launched, securing their home on the launch weekend – a wise move as the initial release sold out in days.
First-time buyers Mike, a tyre salesman from Wymondham, and Emma, a pharmacy worker from Fakenham, have been living with parents while they saved up for a deposit on their new two-bedroom home.
Because they reserved the property early in the build process, they were able to specify fittings for their new home, and have chosen a clean, modern look with grey tiles and a contemporary kitchen.
“This really is our dream home, because we have been dreaming about having our own place for so long now,” said Mike. “We love the quality of the house, we love the contemporary feel, and we love the fact that it’s energy-efficient, which will keep the bills down as well as doing our bit for the environment.”
Welcoming the couple to their new home, Abel Homes chairman Tony Abel – who tries to personally welcome everyone who buys one of the firm’s homes, said, “It’s lovely to come and meet the people who are going to live in our homes.
“We have always said that our business is not about bricks and mortar, but about creating new communities, and we have started to do that in Bawdeswell today.”
The new homes at Bluebell Rise comprise 40 two-, three, and four-bedroom houses, all of which will have the top ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency, boasting features such as photo-voltaic solar panels, air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, triple glazing and high levels of insulation.
The new homes also feature fibre broadband direct to each home.
As part of the development, Abel Homes will create two public open spaces on the site, and has also made a commitment to provide a piece of public artwork on every site where it builds homes.
