CONSTRUCTION STARTS ON NEW HOMES SITE IN WATTON
A local house builder has started work on 18 two- and three-bedroom homes in Watton – following the success of its existing site next door.
The Stables, situated off Norwich Road in the town, is being built by Abel Homes, which is itself based in Watton. The 18 new homes will combine contemporary design with modern, energy-efficient features such as photo-voltaic solar panels and high levels of insulation.
The company is already building 83 highly-sustainable homes on its hus46+ site, which is adjacent to the new development.
“We are continuing to experience strong demand for new homes, and in particular two- and three-bedroom houses,” said Abel Homes managing director Tony Abel, who together with site manager Danny Pinner turned the first sod to set construction underway.
“It is very encouraging to see first-time buyers and young families looking for these kind of homes, helped by the continued success of the Help To Buy scheme, and whenever we release homes of this type, they tend to go pretty quickly.
“There is clearly a demand for well-designed, energy-efficient new homes in the town, so it feels good to have started another new site in my home town which will provide just that.”
Just five of the present phase of new homes on Abel Homes’ hus46+ site are left to be sold. The first homes at The Stables will be launched onto the market at the turn of the year.
