Having purchased a fantastic 20 acre site off School Road in Drayton about a year ago, we are delighted that planning permission was recently granted by Broadland District Council for 22 eco-homes. The grounds of the former Littlewood House is located approximately 5 miles from Norwich city centre, though once inside the woodlands you feel far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Planning permission already existed to construct houses on the land but we saw an opportunity to create some unique and exciting homes to compliment the wonderful setting, and re-applied to the local council for permission to alter the design. Broadland District Council were enthusiastic about the proposal and we have worked closely with them to achieve the right balance of design and accommodation whilst retaining and improving the woodlands.
We are working in conjunction with London-based architects Conran & Partner on this exciting project and the result is a contemporary design with houses offering a flowing sequence of internal spaces that can be separated from each other or opened up using interconnecting doors and screens. The outside will be brought i
nside with large areas of glass. Externally the designs use familiar materials and forms but handled in a contemporary way. The timber-framed houses will be clad mainly in render with areas of timber boarding.
The homes will be highly insulated, featuring triple-glazed windows, whole-house ventilation systems and be designed to reduce water and energy comsumption. Rain water will be collected for garden watering and WC flushing, whilst solar panels will provide the majority of the hot water required. Wood burning stoves will when lit replace the underfloor heating and low-energy light fittings and kitchen appliances will be used to reduce energy consumption.
The project is already receiving a high level of media interest and was reviewed in the Sunday Times on 24th February 2008. Jamie Bird, our Land & Development Manager, was interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk on 6th March with Matt Wood of Conran & Partners.
We anticipate that a generous sized three bedroom family home with a study will sell for around £300,000, and hope to be able to offer the first houses for sale in the spring of 2009. If you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive further details of the homes, please click here and we will contact you when sales details are available.
